The decision to reach for support - a session, a workshop, any form of deeper work - rarely comes in a clear way. More often it grows over weeks or months. Something doesn't fit. Something whispers under the skin. And you try to drown it out with obligations, coffee, plans, another list of things to do.
Here are five signs that what is whispering is worth hearing.
1. You repeat the same patterns in relationships. You meet another partner - and it turns out they do the same things as the previous one. You start a new job - and after a year you are in the same dynamic with your boss as before. This is not bad luck or coincidence. It is a sign that something in you attracts this dynamic or co-creates it. And only you have access to this "something". Inner work does not change the other person - but it changes the resonance to which we invite people.
2. The body sends signals medicine cannot fully explain. Headaches, neck tension, stomach issues, insomnia, constant fatigue - after ruling out medical causes there sometimes remains what psychosomatics calls "the voice of the body". The body says what the soul cannot or will not say in words. Body work - breath, movement, awareness - does not replace medical treatment. But it is often what allows treatment to bring lasting relief.
3. You feel emptiness despite "having everything". Work, partner, children, home, holidays. From the outside you look fulfilled. And inside there is a silence hard to describe. Or a dull sadness with no concrete cause. This is not clinical depression - it is often a question about meaning that grows after years of living "as one should". It is not a sign that something failed. It is a sign that you have matured into a different question.
4. It is harder to feel joy today than a few years ago. You remember being delighted by small things - a sunset, morning coffee, your daughter's laughter. Today these same situations are neutral. Or they take effort to even notice. Anhedonia - loss of the ability to feel pleasure - is not only a symptom of depression. It can be a sign of long-term suppression of the body, of a nervous system no one has supported for a long time.
5. You keep returning in thought to what you did not do. Unfinished studies. A conversation with your mother that never happened. A choice you regret. These themes do not return to torment you - they return because they want to be integrated. Often only deeper work can give them the place they have been waiting for.
None of these signs is alone a cause for alarm. But if you recognise several in yourself - do not ignore that voice. It does not have to be a dramatic decision. Sometimes it starts with a first careful conversation.
