The body remembers what the mind forgets

Every woman knows this moment: you return to the same conversation with your partner, to the same tension in your neck before work, to the same tightness in your stomach when your mother calls. You know why this is happening. You have analysed it a hundred times - with a friend, a therapist, at personal development courses. And yet nothing changes.

This doesn't mean you are lazy or not trying hard enough. It means you are working at a level where this pattern was never stored.

Contemporary neuroscience and somatics increasingly show that emotions, traumas and reaction patterns do not live in the head - they live in the body. In the nervous system, in muscle tension, in how you breathe when someone raises their voice. Bessel van der Kolk - author of "The Body Keeps the Score" - describes it simply: "the body keeps the score". The body keeps account of everything that has happened to you.

That is why conversation alone - however wise - is not enough. Understanding a problem at the cognitive level is just the first step. The second is going lower: into the layers of the body where emotion stopped as tension, where pattern became reflex. Without this the mind may know everything, while life continues along the same track.

Somatic work is not about "pulling out trauma" or intense reliving. It is about awareness. Noticing how the body reacts to specific themes. Gently directing breath where tension usually lives. Allowing emotion - instead of being suppressed - to complete its movement in the body. Sometimes that movement lasts two minutes. Sometimes twenty. The most important thing is that nothing is forced.

In The Journey® method, in which I work as an accredited practitioner, we reach into the body's layers where the earliest emotions are recorded - often from childhood, sometimes from ancestral lines. We work with breath and awareness to release energy that got stuck. This is not hypnosis. It is a conscious journey - guided by me, but performed by you.

If you have long returned to the same point even though you understand everything - that is not a sign that something is wrong with you. It is a sign that this pattern lives deeper than mind. And needs a different language to relax.

For whom: for women who know "what" and "why" yet cannot change it. For those who feel disconnected from their body - or never fully inhabited it. For all who want to work deeper than words.
